Studio Misfits was spawned from one central idea – to create a space of acceptance and empowerment for those who feel like they don’t fit in to – and can’t enjoy – the traditional salon experience. To be a space for people to realise their own individuality, for people to find THEIR look – the outward manifestation of who they are on the inside.
With our services and salon environment designed in consultation with a clinical psychologist who specializes in neurodivergent minds, we have tailored Studio Misfits to accommodate people with sensory sensitivities as much as possible in a traditionally overwhelming industry. We are passionately LQBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent affirming, not just accepting. We want you to be damn proud of who you are!
We operate on the concept of person care, rather than just hair care.
Your experience in the salon (and being able to maintain your hair at home) is just as important to us as how your hair and looks when you walk out the door. You have agency over yourself and your experience here at Studio Misfits. You are more than your hair.
Our team are a combination of proudly queer, neurodivergent and trans people who have first-hand experience in the challenges that life in these communities face and a talent for kick ass hair. We exist for you, the misfits.
